Wild daylilies (aka ditch lilies) have started to appear, and the yellow (lemon) varieties such as this one have been especially dramatic:
They’re not true lilies in the sense of being part of the lily (Lillium) family, but their dense underground tuber webs are effective against soil erosion. They’re also totally edible by humans, even the unopened buds. (Image taken in Blue Hill, Maine, July 1, 2026.).
